Leonard Michael Mercieri

Leonard “Lenny” Michael Mercieri, passed away on June 12, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield, Lenny was one of three sons to Leonardo V. and Maria (Landi) Mercieri. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1949 and was a graduate of American International College. He worked over 35 years for the U.S. Department of Labor in Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA as a Compliance Officer before retiring in 1986. After his retirement, he was a Site Manager for Westmass Elder Care in Holyoke. He was a Life Member of the Springfield Elks Lodge #61 and the Knights of Columbus. Lenny was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield. He was an avid Patriots and Yankees fan. Lenny was married to his beloved wife for 53 years, whom he is survived by, Frances (Fazio) Mercieri. Lenny is also survived by his loving children, Anthony Mercieri and his wife Kelly of Monson, Robert Mercieri of Middletown, CT, and Lisa Maurer and her husband Scott of Wilbraham; 8 grandchildren, Erika, Anthony, and Anna Mercieri, Joey, Abby, Jonny, and Alex Maurer, and Andrew Mercieri; and his brother, Albert Mercieri of East Longmeadow. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Mercieri in 2015.

Visiting hours for Lenny will be on Sunday, June 18th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. The funeral will be on Monday, June 19th beginning at 8:30 am at the funeral home, with a 10 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in Lenny’s memory to Our Lady of Mt.
