Lahe Chonmany

Springfield- Lahe Chonmany died unexpectedly at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by family on October 15, 2019. Lahe was born in Savannakhet Laos. When he was 15 he joined the French Military and in the next few years helped to create an Independent State within the French Union, and soon an Independent Country. During the communist control of Laos and Vietnam in 1979 Lahe emigrated to the United States with 9 children to give them a better life. He worked many jobs, but he was known for his healing powers as a medicine man. Early in his life he learned the customs of his Buddhist tribe, and he used his knowledge to help heal the sick with holistic medicine. He was a man full of pride and he worked hard, but he also liked celebrating and spending time with his family and outside in the gazebo. He gave the best life he could to his children and grandchildren, and they have all embraced this opportunity and have achieved college and beyond. Lahe leaves behind his wife Hanh Chonmany; his children Thong Kheaumun and her husband Vanh of Feeding Hills, Eth Chonmany and his wife Vilayvanh of Southwick, Ong Chonmany of Springfield, Deuan Chonmany and his wife Manisone of East Longmeadow, Khonchanh Chonmany of Monson, Enoi Chonmany and his wife Barbara of Springifield, Vakny Chonmany of Agawam, and Santala Anderson and her husband Edward of Springfield; 12 grandchildren Bounchanh Kheaumun, Sakhonh Kheaumun, Anoudeth Chonmany, Pathana Chonmany, Maile Charland, Anthony Chonmany, Rayani Chonmany, Suisada Chonmany, Grace Chonmany, Ana Chonmany, Yvette Warren and Tasheena Anderson; and many extended family and friends. Lahe was predeceased by one son Ung Chonmany and 2 brothers. The family would like to acknowledge the family and friends who helped Lahe when he was sick, and a special thanks to Dr. Shaji Daniel. Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday October 19, 2019 from 8:00am to 9:30am for calling hours, and a funeral service will follow at 9:30am in the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA.
