Kenneth Alfred Forni
July 4, 1953 ~ March 26, 2021 (age 67) 67 Years Old
Ken Forni, 67, was called home by the Lord when he passed away peacefully on the morning of March 26, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Ken was the loving husband of 46 years to Sandi (Crosby) and devoted father to his children, Jessica Lorio and her husband Marc, son Steve Forni and his wife Caroline, and his grandchildren Madeleine (8), Clara (5), Luca (3) and Eleanor (1). He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Forni, his sister Karen Forni-Austin and her husband Al, his brother Michael Forni and his wife Lisa. He also leaves behind his father-in-law Mel Crosby and sister-in-law Sue Winterle, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ken was the co-owner of Kens’ Eyewear with “four convenient locations”, a local business he and his business partner Ken Gaspar successfully ran for over 40 years. The relationships built with their valued employees, customers and community were instrumental to the success of Ken’s Eyewear, which they sold in April 2019. Born on the Fourth of July in 1953, Ken took pleasure telling his children and friends that the annual fireworks and celebrations were in his honor. Ken treated life as a celebration and lived it to its fullest. He worked hard, played hard and had the infectious personality that made those around him want to work hard and play hard too. Whether it was golfing, fishing on the Cape Cod shores or getting backstage tickets to see Tower of Power in concert, he was the life of the party. Ken was also a huge fan of sports, and an avid Boston sports fan. Ken played a Dad, Coach, Leader and Fan for his kids. Ken will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and genuine love and welcoming spirit he showed to others. His family is very grateful for all the love and support that friends and the community have shown throughout Ken’s battle. Ken’s rallying cry for his fight came from the great Jim Valvano - “Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it
cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever”. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on Wednesday, April 14th at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow. A funeral service for Ken will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 15th at the funeral home with limited capacity. There will be a visiting hour from 10-11AM prior to the service on Thursday. For those who would like to view the service online, please visit this link for live webstreaming. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ken’s name to the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001 where he was a longtime member and trustee. We really hope this has proper spelling and correct grammar, because Ken wouldn’t have it any other way. For online condolences please visit www.forastiere.com.
