Karen Ann Louis

January 26, 1943 ~ October 23, 2018 (age 75)
LONGMEADOW – Karen A. Louis, 75, passed away on October 23, 2018 at the Jewish Nursing Home. Born in Springfield, MA on January 26, 1943 to the late Ray and Kay (Athas) Bressette, she graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1960. She then attended American International College and obtained her Associate’s Degree in X-Ray Technology from Wesson Memorial Hospital School. Karen worked as an X-ray Technician at numerous facilities, but spent the final 13 years of her career at Shriners Hospital for Children before retiring in 2003.  As a faithful member of St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church in East Longmeadow, she was very involved and enjoyed being a member of the choir. Previously, she was also very involved with the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain, CT. Karen enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, Duke University Basketball and dogs. Her love of sports was also shown by her interest and involvement in her grandchildren’s activities. Her family will fondly remember her great sense of humor and for always having fun with the people around her. To cherish her memory, Karen leaves her son PJ Louis and his wife Jen of West Hartford, CT; grandchildren Mac, Georgia and Peter Louis as well as many friends including her lifelong friends Vicki LaRoche, Anita Themistos, and Tina Katsounakis. Karen will lie in state from 11 AM – 12 Noon on Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church, 400 Prospect Street, East Longmeadow with a service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church. For more information, please visit www.forastiere.com
