Obituary

Julie Ann Van Deventer, 79, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023, after a valiant battle with Cancer and Dementia at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center with her family beside her.

Julie was born on June 10, 1943 in Lock Haven, PA to the late James and Mary (Mannix) Corcoran; one of two children. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1961. Shortly after she moved to Puerto Rico to work for Ramey Air force base, where she also met and married the love of her life, Joseph, on September 30, 1967. Both she and Joseph moved to Shaw Air force base in South Carolina and then moved to Framingham, where they settled for over 40 years.

Julie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who received no greater pleasure than spending time with her husband and family. She was a devoted and faithful parishioner of St. Bridget’s Church in Framingham for many years. Julie took great pride and loved to help others in her community through volunteering at the food pantry and as an aid at Framingham Union Hospital.
Julie was a caring and loving person to all, who were blessed to have known her. In her spare time she enjoyed spending as much time as she could with family and friends. She had an extended collection of family photos and had a deep fondness for the Royal Families. Over the years she enjoyed traveling with her husband and even lived in London briefly. Above all else, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Joseph Van Deventer. She leaves behind her loving son Timothy Van Deventer and his wife Stephanie of Southington, CT, as well as her wonderful grandchildren Grace and Cody. She leaves her sister Mary Timothea Parent and her husband Michael of Holyoke, MA, and her nieces Julia and Michaela Parent of Holyoke. She also leaves behind her close friend of 50 years Judith Finn of South Dennis, MA.

Family and friends are asked to arrive no later than 9:30 am at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation to join in procession to St. Mary's Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am following a procession to Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam.
