Joyce Serrenho

Joyce (Planzo) Serrenho, 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, on December 30th, 2020. She was born in Springfield to the late Anthony and Florence (Decouteau) Planzo. Joyce met her husband John of 66 years, at Riverside Rollaway, where they skated together for many years. They were engaged in 1952, and the rest is history.

Joyce was loved by everyone, she never spoke ill of anyone. She was a genuine wonderful person.  She loved to cook for her family. She also enjoyed making Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren. Joyce also enjoyed being a snowbird with her husband John. Spending their winters in Port Charlotte FL.

She is survived by her husband John Serrenho and their three children: son John Serrenho, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Brimfield, daughter Cathy Serrenho-Smith and her husband Alan, and son James Serrenho all of Springfield; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and her twin sister, Joan O’Brien of Westfield. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brother Louis Planzo and his wife Claire, her sister Lorraine and her husband John Scibelli, and Joan’s husband Clyde O’Brien.

Visiting hours for Joyce will be on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 4:00-6:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street in East Longmeadow, and also live streamed at the link below. The funeral be on Friday, January 15th 10:30am at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30am in Holy Name Church in Springfield. Burial will take place in the Massachusetts Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
