Attorney Joseph Minardi passed away on November 16, 2021, at the age of 84. Joseph died peacefully with his wife of 61 years, Rosalie (Lupo) by his side. Joe was a wonderful father and husband and will be greatly missed.
Joseph leaves his 6 children; Joseph (Marybeth) Minardi, Roseann (Michael) Bergdoll, Jeffrey (Jenifer) Minardi, John (Alisa) Minardi, Marlene Minardi, and Jason (Heather) Minardi. He also leaves behind his fourteen grandchildren, who enjoyed spending time with such a loving grandfather. He leaves behind his brand new great-granddaughter.
Joe was born in Bridgeport, CT to Guiseppi and Antonia (Petite) Minardi. He leaves his brothers Angelo and Vincent and was predeceased by his brother John Minardi. Joe first graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1960 and then went on to graduate from Western New England College with a J.D. Degree and practiced law in Springfield, MA for over 30 years. He was an active member of the community and church. He enjoyed coaching and helping his kids with their various athletic activities. Joe was very proud of his Italian heritage, and helped establish the Italian Cultural Center of Springfield, and served as its first president. He was President of SPFLD UNICO, he was the Parade Marshall for the Christopher Columbus Day Parade, and the recipient of many awards for his volunteerism which includes the 1999 Servium Award, UNICO’s Distinguished Service Award, and UNICO's Man of the year award.
Calling hours will be on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 4-7 pm in Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow MA. Joseph’s funeral will be Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 8:45 am in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Parish, 519 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield.
