Agawam - Joseph V. Liberatore, Jr. passed surrounded by loving family October 4, 2019. He was born to the late Giuseppe and Jenny (Falcone) Liberatore on October 5, 1931 in Springfield, MA. Joe was drafted during the Korean War era, and served as part of the post war force in France, as a Tank Mechanic and Cook. After the service, he worked as a machinist at the Springfield Armory as well as a part time Barber. A change in careers landed Joe into the construction trades as a Laborer and he became a proud member of the Local 999 Laborers Union. This career only enhanced his home maintenance and repair skills as he was quite the handy man. Upon retirement, he worked part-time at Langonet Auto Body that allowed him to live his automobile passion. During retirement, he traveled with his wife Domenica to Colorado, Mexico, Italy, and many other fun destinations. He loved Italian food, and watching the New England Patriots, lawn care, and tinkering around the house. He took great pride in his lawn and tinkering around the house. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years Domenica, and 2 brothers Frank and James Liberatore. He will be deeply missed by his children Anthony J. Liberatore and his wife Robin of MI, Lisa A. Liberatore of Wilbraham, Christina A. Maguire and her husband William of Marblehead, Joseph P. Liberatore of CO, and Marilyn A. Liberatore of Feeding Hills; 3 grandchildren Reagan, Grace, and Sarah, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Joseph’s family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Renaissance Manor in Holyoke for their care of Joseph and Maggie. Joseph made many new friends there through Bingo, Bowling and his charismatic personality. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday October 9, 2019 from 4-7pm in the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam MA. A funeral service will be Thursday October 10, 2019 at 8:30am in the funeral home and a Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 William Street, Springfield. A burial with Military Honors will be Saturday October 12, 2019 at 10:00am in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
