Joseph Impagnatiello

June 20, 1947 ~ January 18, 2022 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Obituary

Joseph J. Impagnatiello, passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on January 18, 2022. He was born in 1947 to the late Peter and Catherine (McIntyre) Impagnatiello and was raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, attending Springfield schools, including Springfield Trade School. He married his former wife Lorraine Impagnatiello in 1968, and they raised their two daughters in East Longmeadow, where he has since lived. Joe was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge #61 and enjoyed spending his Friday nights at the club. He was employed as metal etcher at New England Etching for more than 30 years before retiring in 2009. Joe enjoyed tinkering around the house and always had some kind of project he was working on. He was always available to his daughters when they needed help with something that needed fixing and fielded many calls to analyze why one of their cars was making a noise or why the lawnmower wouldn’t start. Many times those calls ended with, “I’ll get my tools and be right over.” When he was finished, and we thanked him for his help, he would always joke and say “I will put it on your tab.” Even though his daughters have long been adults, he always ended a visit or a phone call with “be careful and be good” or “stay out of trouble.” He taught his daughters to have a strong work ethic, to be independent and not to pay for things you could do yourself. The role that Joe loved the most in this world was being Papa to his two grandchildren. He loved and adored them beyond measure. He loved to bring them donuts every Sunday morning and loved to have his grandson follow him around while he was fixing things. They loved to sit at his workbench and play with his tools.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Marie Impagnatiello. Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter Gina (Impagnatiello) Mansfield, her husband Sean Mansfield, daughter Amy Impagnatiello, his grandchildren Charlotte and Benjamin Ellis, and former wife Lorraine Impagnatiello.
