John F. Reardon, Jr.

John F. Reardon, Jr., 74, passed away on July 13, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, MA on March 8, 1947, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Kane) Reardon. John, Sr. was member of the Springfield Fire Department as a Fire Alarm Operator and Mary was a longtime Supervisor at Monarch Life Insurance Co.

In 1965, John, Jr. graduated from Cathedral High School. From 1966 – 1969, he proudly serviced his country in the United States Army. He then obtained his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Springfield Technical Community College.

For 33 years, until his retirement, he was a Firefighter for the City of Springfield on Engine 3 at the Massreco Street Station. He was also a communicant of Holy Cross Church and a member of Local 648 Springfield Association of Firefighters.

In his spare time, John enjoyed bike riding in Old Saybrook and at Cape Cod with his wife, Diane.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Jimmy Reardon. To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 50 years, Diane (Ragion) Reardon of Southwick, who is employed at Van Pool Transportation and at Westfield State University; his son Brian Reardon of Southwick, who is employed at 22News as well as his sister Mary Reardon of CA.

Private committal services with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
