Obituary

John Podgorski, 83, passed away on November 13, 2023.
Born in Springfield, MA on June 30, 1940, to the late Felix and Helen (Golaszewski) Podgorski, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Susan M. (Smolen) Podgorski.
He held various positions with Smith & Wesson, Tube Bends, Raytheon Technical, and spent over 30 years at Pratt and Whitney. He loved to travel with his favorite destination to be Alaska.
John was involved in various activities outside of the office, including playing with the Western Mass Drum & Bugle Corps, participating in bowling and golf leagues with his best friend Jon Karparis, fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and often sharing stories of his experiences riding horses as a young boy with his brothers. He got the most enjoyment by working outside in the yard.
John is survived by his sons, David and his wife Cheryl of Suffield, CT, James and his wife Monique of France, and Phillip and his wife Cheryl of Southwick, MA. He is also survived by his daughter, Christine Daniels, and her husband Kenneth of Peoria, AZ. His brothers, Raymond Podgorski of Richmond, VA, and Arnie Podgorski of Indian Orchard, MA, also survive him, along with six grandchildren: Nicholas, Jennifer, Joshua Podgorski, Leah Daniels, Lexi, and Riley Podgorski.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30AM in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Ave., Indian Orchard.
John’s family will receive relatives and friends at the visitation on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5-8PM at the Colonial-Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam, with a funeral home service to be held at 8PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory top charity of one’s choice.
