John C. Lester

John C. Lester, Jr., 91, of Springfield, passed away on May 19, 2020, at Baystate Medical Center. John was the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Stranch. He was born on November 25, 1928 in Quaker Town, PA and was the son of the late John and Maysie (Eckhart) Lester, Sr. He worked as a roofer until his retirement in 1962 in which he belonged to the Roofers & Slaters Union #248. He loved his dog Sunny so much, who would sit on his lap every day and he also enjoyed playing golf with brother-in-law Frank Stranch. He leaves behind his two daughters Cynthia and her husband Donald Holmes and Donna Lester who took care of dad for the last thirty years for their mother. He also leaves behind his two grandsons Kristopher and his wife Samantha Holmes and Matthew Holmes and his girlfriend Nicole Proulx. Arrangements are entrusted to Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Family and friends are invited to attend a PUBLIC Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on Wednesday, May 27, at 10:30.
