Obituary

Jean Louise Loizzo, 90, of Stuart FL passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family members on June 25th. She was born on September 25, 1930 to the late Lorenzo and Anna Lauriente, of Springfield, Ma. Jean attended grade school in Springfield MA and graduated from Commerce High School. After high school she was a bookkeeper for her father’s business, Lauriente Nurseries. Jean loved to dance and became a ballroom dance instructor with Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She was then asked to manage a new Arthur Murray Dance Studio and moved to Providence Rhode Island. She fell in love and married Francis Loizzo and they were married for 25 years. Jean and Francis raised their four children in Longmeadow MA. Jean had a successful career as a real estate agent for 13 years as a top producer and earned the title of a Relocation Specialist. She then became a real estate appraiser for banks and lawyers.
In 1997 she moved to Boynton Beach FL. and enjoyed the beaches and made lifelong friends. She was a very active member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church and through the church joined the Columbiettes and The Women of God sisterhood. She also enjoyed membership in the Red Hat Society. Jean was an active member of Sunny South Estates and enjoyed entertaining and participating in club activities.
In 2017, Jean moved to Stuart, Fl to be closer to her daughter and family. Jean loved the Treasure Coast and attending her grandchildren’s school and sports activities. She was involved in the Italian American Club and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her brother Frank Lauriente, of Springfield, MA. Jean will forever be missed by her four children Lynn Tandler from Denver CO, Paul Loizzo from Parkman ME, Peter Loizzo and his wife Debra from Wilbraham MA, and Anne Howard and her husband Jonathan from Jensen Beach FL. She also leaves her six grandchildren: Elizabeth and John Tandler, Andrianna Loizzo, Stephanie Murphy and her husband Timothy, and Francesco and Angela Howard.
Jean was a women of many interests and talents. She loved to dance, cook Italian food, garden, travel, and entertain. She was an avid reader, participated in many Bible study groups and was a volunteer in many non- profit settings. Family and her strong faith were hallmarks of her life. She was passionate about her family, and her six grandchildren were the love of her life. She will be cherished, loved and always remembered in our hearts.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 15th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. On Friday July 16th, friends and family may gather at 8:45AM in the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial offered at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 123 Williams St. in Springfield. Jean will then be laid to rest at St. Michael’s Cemetery,1601 State St., Springfield.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care she received while living at Symphony at Stuart. The family would also like to thank Treasure Coast Hospice for their assistance and kindness.
