James Anthony Stone

James Anthony Stone, 53, passed away May 24, 2018. Jimmy was born April 17, 1965 in Springfield and resided in Longmeadow. He was the loving son of Lawrence E. Stone (deceased) and Judith (Allard) Stone. Jimmy graduated from Longmeadow High School in 1983. He excelled in football and hockey; making All Western Mass in both sports. His true love was hockey. Jimmy went on to Springfield College and then transferred to Johnson and Wales, in Providence, RI; graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management.

He worked in many beautiful hotels in Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida. Jimmy returned home to Longmeadow in 1994. At that time, he worked construction for Local 999. In 2008 Jimmy began working for the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission as a maintenance technician. A job he truly loved and took much pride in. Jimmy took pride in everything that he did. He was a kind, generous and loving person; earning him the nickname of “Gentleman Jim”.

Jimmy was predeceased by his loving grandmother Carmella DeLevo and his brother Bummy Stone. He leaves his sister, Carla and her husband Domenic Sarno, along with his cherished nieces Cassie and Chiara Sarno; and his brother Anthony Stone and girlfriend Bethany Tangredi.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jimmy’s services. Visiting hours are on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 9-11am at Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow with a funeral service beginning at 11:00AM at the funeral home on Wednesday.
