James Joseph Ferrera

James J. Ferrera, devoted husband & loving father, passed away on March 27th, 2021, surrounded by the loves of his life, his wife and two children. Born to James and Yolanda Ferrera (Spagnolo) in 1946, he grew up in Springfield, MA and is predeceased by his parents and his brother John. Often known to friends and family as “Fancy”, for his impeccable style and class, James worked for his family’s business, Victoria Fashions, Inc. and then went on to a successful career in sales. In 1979, he married his beloved wife Joanne (Cocchi) and together they had a beautiful life with their two children, James and Cristina, whom he shared an unbreakable bond with; he was truly the light of their lives. Some of the most cherished memories will be that of the many wonderful family vacations they went on over the years. James will be remembered for his kindness, strength and wisdom. He will be deeply missed every day in the hearts of his family. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St East Longmeadow on Tuesday March 30th from 4-7pm for a period of visitation. James’s funeral will begin at 9am on Wednesday March 31st at the funeral home, with a funeral liturgy to follow at 11am Holy Name Church in Springfield. Burial will be held privately by his family.
