Obituary

Wilbraham – Irene M. (Wysocki) Rustin peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on January 27, 2021. Born in Springfield, Irene was one of eight children of her parents William and Lillian (Carney) Wysocki. She married her husband William Rustin in 1957 and they began their own family. Irene worked for several years as an overseas operator for AT&T where she formed a bond with many of the woman and became long-lasting friends known as the Maxines. Prior to that, she worked at Tyndall Airforce Base and played on their softball team. Besides softball, Irene was an avid reader and she loved taking care of her grandchildren and wrestling with her grandsons. Coming from a large family, and having a large family of her own, Irene enjoyed cooking for big groups and cooking food that were close to her heart from her Polish heritage. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time together. Irene was a long-time member of St. Cecelia’s Church in Wilbraham.

Irene is survived by her children: Cheryl Rossie and her partner Arnold of Youngstown FL, Donna Loso and her husband Brian of Chuluota FL, Debbie Laprade and her husband Tom of Ware MA, James Rustin and his wife Linda of Homestead FL, and Michael Rustin of Wilbraham; her grandchildren: Joshua, Katie Lynn, Adam, Tommy, Wayland, Chase, Sydnie, Sophia and Michael; her great-grandchildren: William Dane, Wynter, Olive, Vinnie, Gabe and Darren; her brothers Joey and Bobby Wysocki and his wife Linda, her sister Theresa Fitz; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Irene was predeceased by her brothers: Frankie, Billy, Jackie and Larry Wysocki, and her adored grandchildren Jessica and Cole.

Friends and family may first gather at 8:30am at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street on Saturday, February 27, 2021 and drive in procession for a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Cecelia’s Church in Wilbraham at 10:00am. Please remember masks and social distancing are required. Burial will follow privately.
