Helen Strycharz

Longmeadow- Helen (Grabowski) Strycharz, 95, passed away on January 1, 2018. She was the wife for 55 years to the late Joseph F. Strycharz, who predeceased her on March 6, 2015. She was also predeceased by her brother, Henry and sister, Emily.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Martin and Mary (Szymura) Grabowski on April 10, 1922; she was a resident of the Longmeadow area for 50 years. In her early years Helen worked in retail at the Mannequin Shop, Hartford, Connecticut; before settling down to be a home maker. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow. Helen is survived by a brother and his wife, Edward and Ann Grabowski of Weymouth, Massachusetts; nieces, nephews, including her beloved care givers, Larry and Deborah Strycharz of Westfield.
Helen led a full life, socially active, even though her health had declined over the last few months. She continued to make her own decisions right up to the end. Her family is appreciative of the care she received from all her family, friends, doctors, and nurses. Helen’s family would like to thank the Arbors of Westfield (especially Mary, Karen, and her personal aides); and also to the third floor, Baystate Oncology, (to the doctors, nurses and staff) for their compassionate care. A funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM on Saturday (January 6, 2018) in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow. (Please go directly to the church.) Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard. There are no calling hours.
