East Longmeadow- Giuseppe Servidone 88, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021; with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 62 years to Maria (Maida) Servidone. Born in Pianopoli, Catanzaro, Italy on April 23, 1933 he was a son of the late Francesco and Carmela Isabella (Valenzi) Servidone. Giuseppe served his country in the Italian Air Force, following WW II. He immigrated to the United States and was a resident of the East Longmeadow area for over 50 years. He retired after 27 years from Lenox American Saw and Manufacturing Company, East Longmeadow. Giuseppe was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow, and a member of the Italian American Citizen Club, East Longmeadow. Giuseppe and his wife enjoyed their garden and he truly loved spending time with all of his family. In addition to his wife Maria, Giuseppe will be remembered by his children, son Francesco Servidone and wife Elizabeth, daughter Carmela Bonavita and husband Carmino, all of East Longmeadow; two brothers, Antonio Servidone and Angelo Servidone, both of Italy; four sisters, Teresa Molinaro and Rosa Molinaro both of Australia, Gina Ceneviva and Pina Mascaro both of Italy; five grandchildren, Maria Francesca Servidone, Nina Gabriella DeJesus and husband Jon , Livio Joseph Bonavita, Julia Bonavita and Olivia Bonavita. Giuseppe also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family both here, Italy and Australia. He was predeceased by a brother, Tomasso Servidone and two sisters, Angelina Mascaro and Raffaela Mascaro .
The family will gather and receive friends from 9:00AM-11:00AM on Friday, May 7, 2021 in the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A funeral home ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM with a procession to St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow for a 12:00NOON Liturgy of Christian Burial. Giuseppe will be laid to rest in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield. Masks and social distancing are imperative at all times.
