George C. Woodard, 72, of Springfield, passed away on February 10th. Born in Springfield on December 5th to the late Edward and Mary Woodard (Walker), he was a graduate of Putnam High School. George shared his gift and love of cooking not only with his family, but his community- cooking for local shelters as well as his church. He was also a proud Vietnam Veteran, faithfully serving his country. He owned an antique store and could be found at the Brimfield Antique Show. George was a faithful member of the Springfield Church of the Latter Day Saints. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife Carol Woodard (St. Martin), and his loving children Michael Woodard and Lauren Woodard. He also leaves his brother Robert Woodard and granddaughter Ashleigh Woodard. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home at 220 North Main St in East Longmeadow on Friday, February 19th from 2-3pm for a walk thru visitation, with a funeral home service commencing at 3pm. Burial will follow at a later date. George’s family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either ASPCA or the Dakin Humane Society: PO Box 6307 Springfield, MA 01101
