Feeding Hills- Gary Rene Maynard 69, devoted husband of Janet (Suckau) Maynard, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 24, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center. Gary was born in Holyoke on October 22, 1952, the son of Claire (Rousseau) Maynard and the late Rene Maynard. Gary spent his early years growing up in Chicopee before living in Westfield. He raised his family in Southwick and spent his remaining 16 years in Feeding Hills. He retired as a Master Auto Body Technician; having owned his own business at one time. He was a much-loved instructor at the Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical School; earning the name “Teach” and “The Hulk.”Gary, was an avid tinkerer who loved classic cars. While raising his daughters he always made time to take them out boating as they grew up on the Congamond lakes, teaching them to fish and snorkel. He loved spending time with his young grandson, the boy he always wished for. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Maynard. In addition to his wife with whom he spent 47 years with he is survived by his loving family, two daughters, Jill Maynard and her significant other Mario Hornsby of West Springfield, Jennifer Maynard Batcheller and her husband David and step son “DJ” of Grafton; two sisters, Patricia Matte of Warren, Nancy Guinipero and her husband John of Ludlow. He will be missed sorely by his grandson and “best buddy” Mekhi Hornsby. Gary also leaves many nieces and nephews; especially his niece Kaitlyn Stoddard.Friends may join the family from 4:00PM-7:00PM on Thursday June 2, 2022 at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral and Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam.Funeral services will begin at 8:45AM, on Friday (June 3, 2022) from the funeral home. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Parish, 1065 Springfield St., Feeding Hills. Burial will follow in the Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills.
