Gail A. Garstka

EAST LONGMEADOW – Gail A. Garstka, 77, passed away on November 23, 2017 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Springfield, MA on January 31, 1940 to the late Erwin and Marion (Dean) Gutermann, she grew up in Longmeadow and graduated from Longmeadow High School in the Class of 1957. For many years, Gail was very devoted to, and involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 143 in Springfield. She was also dedicated to the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG). Gail leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 55 years, Stanley P. Garstka of East Longmeadow; children Jennifer Garstka of Southwick, MA, David Garstka and his wife Dawn of Dover, NH, Richard Garstka of Wrentham, MA and Janet Bogacz and her husband Mitchell of Springfield; grandchildren Jake, Ethan, Quin and Nate Garstka and her siblings Judith Spurlock, Donald, Paul and Peter Gutermann and their families. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Freeman and his staff, the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center and Ascend Hospice for their support and care of Gail. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. A service conducted by the Order of the Eastern Star will be at 6:30 PM.
