Franco Manzi

SPRINGFIELD – Franco Manzi, 61, passed away on June 16, 2020 at his home. Born in Quindici, Italy on November 10, 1958, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Gervilli) Manzi. Although born in Italy, he was very proud of his U.S. citizenship and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Franco also worked at Hasbro for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing and coaching soccer, his vegetable garden, and spending time around the table with family, friends, good food, and wine. But above all, he loved his family with all his heart, and they loved him. To cherish his memory, Franco leaves his loving and devoted, wife Michell (Doherty) Manzi; his children Adam, Jillian and Makenna Manzi; his brothers Vincenzo, Angelo, and Bruno; his sister Eleanora Scirocco and her husband Gianfranco; his nieces and nephews Shannon (Manny), Megan, Alessandro, Franco and Angelo; his In-laws Leo and Mary Doherty, sister-in-law Deirdre Reilly, and his large extended family. Besides his parents, Franco was predeceased by his mother-in-law Adrain McCloskey and his brother-in-laws Johnny and Peter Doherty. Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 10 AM – 12 Noon at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow with a service at 12 Noon. Franco will be laid to rest at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, in Agawam, in a private ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made in Franco’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
