Florence L. Evans

EAST LONGMEADOW – Florence “Flo” Evans, 77, passed away on November 10, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield, MA on January 16, 1940 to the late Naylor and Florence (Board) Taliaferro, she graduated from Pittsfield High School, Class of 1957. She then became a LPN and worked in pediatrics. She relocated to East Longmeadow in 1971. Flo recently retired after a 30 year career at Big Y Supermarket where she worked at the courtesy desk. As a sports fan, she loved to bowl and was on a team for years with a 170 bowling average. She also was a beloved Boston Red Sox fan and loved watching Serena Williams play tennis. Most of all, Flo loved her family, especially her three grandsons who brought so much joy to her life. She will always be remembered for her love to laugh and dance, her kind heart and her generous ways. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Naylor of Plattsburgh, NY and her former husband Herbert Evans. Flo leaves to cherish her memory her only son Jeffrey Evans; her daughter-in-law Cora Evans; grandsons Chase and Cole Evans and Brian Tracy; her soon to be great grandson Austin Tracy; siblings Frederick, Robert, Ernest, Dennis, Edith, Doris, Estelle and Martha as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her best friend of 45 years Kathy Rose of East Longmeadow and many wonderful friends who will miss her dearly. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA. Funeral services and burial in Longmeadow Cemetery will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
