Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” (Thibodeau) St. Peter, 90, a longtime resident of East Longmeadow, entered into eternal peace on March 5, 2018 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Betty was born in Antrim, NH on June 22, 1927 to the late Lewis and Mary (Norton) Thibodeau. Betty was predeceased by her husband Dominic “Zecket” St. Peter in 1994 and a son Dominic Jr. in 1969, her brothers Louis, George and Robert and her sisters Priscilla, Margaret, Anita and Natalie. Betty was a 1945 graduate of the High School of Commerce in Springfield. She worked at HP Hood in Agawam before marrying and raising her family. She also worked for many years as a bookkeeper at the Willow Glen Restaurant and Quimby Appliance in East Longmeadow. Betty’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, playing cards and Bingo. She was a longtime member and past president of the ITAM Post #64 Ladies Auxiliary, the Senior Friendship Club of E. Long and the E. Long Morning Glory Walkers. Betty had a profound faith in God and was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Mission Church in E. Long and St. Paul’s Church in Springfield. Betty will be sadly missed by her children; Donna (John) Picano of East Longmeadow, Patricia (Stephen) Nickerson of Athens, GA, MaryLou (Robert) Martin of Sebastian, FL, Joseph (Pamela) St. Peter of Gill and Donald St. Peter of Whitefish, MT and her sister Jean Nelson of Lake Wales, FL. She also leaves to cherish her memory 12 grandchildren; Jodie (Steven) LePage of Belchertown, Lisa (Wesley) Berrios of East Longmeadow, Robert (Jessica) Martin of Reading, PA, Nicholas (Thaedra) Martin of Oldsmare, FL, Joshua Nickerson of Athens, GA, Sarah (Ross) Matney of Pulaski, VA, Tiffany (Michael) Doyle of Deerfield, Brittany (Alex Bourassa) St. Peter of Greenfield, Travis (Jennifer) St. Peter of Attleboro, Ashleigh St. Peter of Peabody, Chelseigh (Justin) Bernard of Bernardston, Dominic (Jessica) St. Peter of Seaside, CA. Betty also leaves 18 great-grandchildren. Betty’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 12th, from 4-7PM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Her funeral will be on Tuesday, March 13th from the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen St., Springfield at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) PO Box 824061, Philadelphia, PA 19182-4061in honor of her great-grandson Zachary Berrios or Autism Society, 4340 East-West Hwy, Suite 350, Bethesda, MD 20814 in honor of her great-granddaughter Violet Martin.
