Hampden - Elizabeth “Betsy” (Holt) Bray, age 79, died peacefully on August 21st, 2018 at her home in Hampden, Ma after a long struggle with cancer. Betsy was born September, 22, 1938 in Montpelier, VT, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Parrott) Holt. She attended Montpelier High School and Hood College in Maryland. For 43 years, Betsy worked for Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MA. She embraced her Vermont heritage and was an outdoor enthusiast who loved nature, antique shopping, gardening and arts & crafts. She had many friends who loved her passion for life. Her kind, gentle and understanding manner left a mark on all those who knew her. Betsy is survived by her four sons, Scott Stewart of Northampton, Eric Stewart and his wife Bonita, of South Hadley, Mark Stewart of Berlin, CT and Bruce Stewart and his wife Paula, of Hampden; six grandchildren, Meagan, Daniel, Kevin, Katelin, Andrew, Kelsey, Dominique and Aron; and six great grandchildren, Kara, Landon, Jaxon, Braeden, Emma and Olivia; her loving sister, Barbara, and her husband George Randall of Rochester Hills, Michigan; and her niece and nephew Steven and Carol. There will be a private family gathering and ceremony for family and friends to celebrate the life and memories of Elizabeth, followed by a private graveside service in Montpelier, Vermont.
