LONGMEADOW- Elinor Killoch Groeneveld of Largo, Florida and Narragansett, Rhode Island, died peacefully on August 22, 2019. She was married to Leonard Groeneveld, who died in 2005, for fifty-five years. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Groeneveld (Daniel Pascone) of Etowah, N.C., Leonard Groeneveld (Myrta Groeneveld) of Longmeadow, MA, and Robin Lehrman (Robert Lehrman) of Narragansett, RI. She leaves nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who all loved her dearly. Elinor was born in Pawtucket, RI, in 1929, the daughter of Alexander Killoch and Ethel England Killoch. She attended the University of Rhode Island. She lived in Lincoln, RI, Potsdam, NY, Gainesville, FL, and Largo, FL. She spent the summers at the family’s longtime home in Narragansett, RI, where she was famous for her clam chowder. She was also well known as a marine artist, and her oil paintings hang in homes, restaurants, and banks all over the east coast. Family will welcome friends at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow from 5-7PM on Thursday, August 29. All other services will be private.
