Edward "Ed" J. Shea
February 17, 1937 ~ April 29, 2022 (age 85) 85 Years Old
AGAWAM - Edward J. Shea, 85, passed away on April 29, 2022. Born in Holyoke, MA on February 17, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Lottie (Bystrek) Shea. Ed was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving our country proudly with the U.S. Army. Once honorably discharged, he was employed at McKesson Liquor Co., in West Springfield, MA for 24 years, and later worked for Horizon Beverage Co. in Ludlow, MA (formerly Costal Beverage Co.) retiring after 25 years. In his spare time Ed enjoyed traveling to many interesting places including Alaska and Hawaii with Annette. His other passions included collecting cars and coins, and bowling. He also loved antique cars and was known to bring donuts every Sunday morning while visiting his family. His family will fondly remember him for being a Proud American and for being a considerate, gentle, friendly, and strong guy, who said hello to everyone. To cherish his memory, Ed leaves his longtime companion Annette Lavoie and her son Mark Proulx; his daughters Theresa Strobel, Deborah Canary and her husband Robert, his 9 awesome grandchildren; 9 amazing great-grandchildren; as well as his former wife of 23 years Rosemarie (Martin) Mickey. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Strobel; and his brother William Shea. Family and friends may gather on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 9-10AM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main Street, Agawam. Funeral services will begin at 10AM at the funeral home followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Agawam. Committal services will be in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield, CT. Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
