Obituary

Springfield - Edgar Allen Foster 80, devoted husband of 33 years to the late Diane (Stoia) Foster, died May 28, 2021.
Ed was born in Montville, Maine and was a 45-year resident of Springfield. He served his country honorably in the United States Army, state side, during the Vietnam War. 
Ed retired on April 30, 2003 from Hamilton Sundstrand (a division of United Technologies) after 34 years of employment.
In addition to his wife, Ed was predeceased by his father in-law and mother in-law Nicholas and Esther Stoia.
He leaves his two beloved stepsons, Robert and Russell Fontaine and Russell’s wife Christine; dear sister in-law and brother in-law, Nikki Stoia and her husband Larry Kleinschmidt; his cherished grandchildren, Emily and Nicholas Fontaine. Family will gather and greet friends and relatives from 2:00PM-4:00PM on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. A ceremony celebrating Ed’s life will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home. Reception to follow at La Cucina di Hampden House located at 1 Allen St. , Hampden, MA. Ed will have a private service with military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445. www.forastierefuneralhome.com
