Southwick – Dottie Luvera, 88, beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Springfield on February 24, 1929. She was a graduate of The High School of Commerce. Dottie was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and loved animals especially the cats and dogs she had as pets over the years. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed for her beautiful smile and her goodhearted ways. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph A. Luvera who passed in 2014. She leaves her daughters, Cheryl Racco, and Christine Santaniello and her husband, Saverio; Frank Racco; her 2 grandchildren Saverio “Sammy” and Mario Santaniello; and her special friend Melanie. Special thankyou to Dottie’s caregivers, Jean, Jeanine, Rachael and Lynn; her hairstylist, Melissa; and Amy from Baystate Visiting Nurses. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, February 7th from 4-8PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Dottie’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 8th from the funeral home at 8:45AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield at 10AM.
