July 23, 1943 ~ December 28, 2018 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Springfield – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy “Dottie” Belle Grover, 75, of Springfield. Dottie passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018. Born July 23, 1943 in Springfield. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Madeline (Harding) Strogopeti. Dottie enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be remembered for the love she had for her family. Dottie loved to garden and relax at Misquamicut Beach and Cape Cod with “the girls”. Her strong work ethic at home and work was an inspiration to many. She thoroughly enjoyed baking for over 20 years at Stop & Shop where she worked with her wonderful friends. Her infectious laugh and amazing smile will be greatly missed. Dorothy is survived by her loving children: Albert Altro and his wife Karen of Coto de Caza CA, Karin Altro of Chicopee, Glenn Altro of Springfield, and Kelly Grover of Tucson AZ; six adored grandchildren: Avery, Jessica, Cameron, Sydney, and Sienna Altro, and Seven Demers; two precious great-grandchildren: Brayden and Bria Santucci; her brother Michael Strogopeti of Agawam; her sister Anna Kober and her husband Mike of Wilbraham; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides her parents, Dottie was predeceased by her brother James Beggs and her sister Madeline Kalesnik. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will begin on Thursday, January 3, 2018 with visiting hours from 4:00-7:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 N. Main Street in East Longmeadow. On Friday, January 4, 2018 at 8:45am at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Holy Name Church in Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
