East Longmeadow – Daniel Edward Hellyer, 69, passed away at home surrounded by family after a long illness on November 20, 2020. Dan was born on July 3, 1951 to the late Edward and Agnes (Gettings) Hellyer in Springfield MA. Dan was very proud to serve in the US Navy, and he retired a Senior Chief in the Construction Battalion after a 30-year career. Dan worked for many years as the Building Commissioner for the Town of East Longmeadow until retiring in 2016. Dan enjoyed sports, fishing, and most of all his grandchildren. Daniel will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years Theresa A. (Cipriani) Hellyer, his children Edward D. Hellyer, Patrick D. Hellyer and Kara A. (Hellyer) Petrie and her husband Jefferson, his grandchildren Lillie Hellyer, Norah Hellyer, Eamon Hellyer, Atti Hellyer, Jenna Petrie, Sydney Petrie and Bryce Petrie, his sister Donna (Hellyer) Rancourt, and her husband Henry, mother-in-law Mary Cipriani-Allen, brother-in-law and uncle to many, and lots of extended family and friends. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday November 27, 2020 at 11:00am in St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow MA.
