Colleen Ann Spink, 81, passed away on March 15, 2023, in the Atrium Community, at Cardinal Dr, Agawam, MA. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Dr. Douglas Spink Jr, who died on August 3, 2018.
She was born in Pittsfield, MA, to the late Sophie Caroline (Paradysz) and Thomas Bernard Moore on October 21, 1940. She enjoyed acting and singing as a youth and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in North Adams. She considered her time at St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Pittsfield a privilege and met the best of friends. She served as head emergency room nurse at Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, Maryland for a few years after that time while Douglas was in dental school.
Colleen was involved in fund raising and event organization for Valley District Women’s Dental Society, Longmeadow High School and Longmeadow Country Club. She loved planning parties, hosting many baby and wedding showers and bridge game gatherings for friends and family.
She briefly worked as an interior decorator – her dream job. This passion led to many years at Brimfield Flea Market with her late brother, Thomas Joseph Moore who died on September 8, 2020. Colleen considered the holiday celebrations at her home a pinnacle place for her craft.
Later in life, she and her husband travelled throughout Europe, their beloved Island of St. Maarten, and the Valley. Colleen kept an address book full of names - people she met opportunistically at these places with the hopes of meeting again.
In addition to her husband, Colleen was the mother of Douglas G. Spink III (Marcy) of Needham, MA, Bradley T. Spink (Patricia) of Westwood, MA, and Dr. Michael J. Spink (Dr. Thuy) of Northampton, MA; five wonderful grandchildren, Douglas IV of Chicago, Jennifer of Kansas City, Olivia of New York and Tiffany of Westwood and William of Northampton.
