Cheryl A. Scibelli

April 19, 1952 ~ September 1, 2021 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Obituary

On September 1, 2021, Cheryl A. (Colella) Scibelli, 69, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a courageous year-long fight with cancer. Born in Auburn, NY on April 19, 1952, to the late Mary (Fiore) Colella and Peter Colella, Cheryl was a 1970 graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Springfield Technical Community College.

Cheryl was employed throughout the years in the insurance, transportation, and education fields, retiring from Cambridge College in 2019. She enjoyed late afternoons at the beach, a robust day of shopping followed by a fine dinner, and a good movie, but most of all she enjoyed just getting together with family and friends.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 45 years, Salvatore; son Vincent and his girlfriend Kalene Martinek of Palmer; sister Susan Ford and her husband John of Wilbraham; brother Robert Colella of Spring, Texas; sister-in-law Susan Soucie of Enfield; nieces Kelsi Ford and Mallory Colella; nephew Jake Ford and his wife Tricia; her lifelong friend Deborah Braccialarghe of Agawam and her cherished grandson Cameron James, who brought her unbridled joy.

The family of Cheryl would like to take the opportunity to thank the many who provided help and kindness to her along the way, with a special thanks to Beacon Hospice and, in particular, Brittany, Jill, and Annabel for their compassion, care, and support while Cheryl was at home.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 2 – 5 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Allen Street, Springfield. Burial will be private and at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers, the memorial contributions may be made to Cheryl’s favorite charity, the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
