Charlotte Mary Miller

On Sunday, August 1 2021, Charlotte Mary Hobbs Miller - artist, teacher, librarian, loving friend to many, and much loved mother of her large family - passed away at the age of 91 in Chicopee, MA.
Charlotte was born on January 21, 1930 in Chester, PA to William and Celia Mohney Hobbs. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Milligan College, Tennessee in 1952. On May 27, 1953 she married Frederick Peter Miller. They raised two daughters; Catherine and Celia, and four sons; Van, Ken, George, and Fritz.
Charlotte lived her passions. She married an aspiring evangelist and put him through Bible College. A trained artist, she brought her brushes and pens around the world, and her paintings and drawings chart the course of her life through Pennsylvania, New England, England, Florida, West Virginia, and Georgia. Her art will be an enduring legacy, hanging on the walls of households in several countries.
Charlotte was also an accomplished pianist, playing regularly both at home and at the churches she attended, some of which she helped establish. She was an English teacher for many years, she edited numerous books, and she established and curated the library at an evangelical college in Vermont.
Well known for her dry humor and quick wit, her presence lit up the lives of all who shared time with her. Charlotte dedicated her life to others with an unwavering faith in God. She loved the Lord, her family, the church and all those around her. She loved to travel and to experience other people and cultures as both missionary and tourist.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother Milton, sister Laura, and husband, Fred. She is survived by sister June, her six children, six grandchildren, (with her first great-grandchild due this November), along with many nieces and nephews, with all of whom she shared strong bonds.
Forastiere Family Funeral & Cremation are assisting with services, and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 12 o’clock in the afternoon, with a calling hour starting at 11 a.m. at Pioneer Valley Church of Christ, 85 Montcalm Street, Chicopee, MA, 01020.
