Carol Settembre

East Longmeadow- Carol Ann (Spies) Settembre 87, passed away at her home on February 18, 2020. She was the wife of 65 years to Gennaro Settembre.
Born in Southbridge, she was a daughter of the late Earl R. and Frances M. (Nolan) Spies; she was an East Longmeadow resident for the past 55 years, prior to having lived in Springfield from the age of 5.
Carol was last employed and retired from the Longmeadow School System as a cafeteria worker where she made many friends; and was affectionately known as “Spiezie”.
Carol was an avid reader; enjoyed vacationing on the Cape during the summer for most of her life; and Florida during the winter months in her retirement years.
She was predeceased by her younger brother, Robert Spies a resident of Chicopee.

Carol is survived by her three sons , Vincent Settembre of East Longmeadow, Gary Settembre and his wife Rochelle, of Westfield, and David Settembre of East Longmeadow; a brother , John Spies of Missouri; along with extended family members.
Calling hours are from 2:00PM-6:00PM on Sunday (Feb 23,2020) in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow.
A funeral home service will take place on Monday (Feb.24,2020) at 11:30AM . Her burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., Springfield.
