Carleton “Johnnie” F. Hooper Jr, 87 passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2020 in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield. He was the devoted husband of Shirley (Beaudoin) Hooper with whom they shared over 60 years of marriage. Johnnie was born in Springfield on October 14,1932; and raised in the South End. He was the son of the late Carleton F. Hooper Sr and Helen (Donoghue) Hooper. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired tool designer employed for many years at Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford. A resident of East Longmeadow for 33 years, Johnnie was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church, in Springfield; and he was formerly a life member of the Springfield Elks Lodge #61. In addition to his wife, Johnnie is survived by his two sons, Steven Hooper and his wife Jean, Mark Hooper and his wife Andrea ; five grandchildren, Matthew Hooper and wife Becky, Jason Hooper and wife Amanda, Laura Bolotin and husband Zach, Brittany Dubois and husband Christian, Ashley Hooper; and nine great grandchildren and extended family.The family will gather and receive friends from 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Monday August 10th, 2020, in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow.Ceremonies will begin in the funeral home at 10:00AM on Tuesday August 11, 2020. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00AM in St. Paul’s Church, 35 Dwight Road, Springfield. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
