Obituary

Springfield – Carl Frank Gigliotti, 93, passed away at Renaissance Manor, Holyoke on March 21, 2020. Carl was born in Springfield on May 28, 1926 to the late John and Tomasina (Perri) Gigliotti. After graduating from Springfield High School, he bravely entered into the Navy during WWII and served as a Seaman Second Class on the ship CVE20 Escort Carrier. After leaving the service he worked at Sunshine Art Studios where he met the love of his life Lauretta. He then worked for the Department of Defense as a packaging and processing inspector for the armory for 22 years, before working as the Principal Store Keeper for the City of Springfield Park Department for 22 years before retiring in 1990. He was a life member of D.A.V. and Elks Lodge #61. Carl loved living life and driving his Cadillacs, he bowled, and enjoyed just being at home. To cherish his memory he leaves behind his son John Gigliotti of Springfield and his nieces Linda Smith of Fairfield CA, and Kathy Gigliotti and Joan Gigliotti of Port Orange FL. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years Lauretta, his brothers Albert Gigliotti and Frank Gigliotti and step-brother Anthony J. Oliverio, and his step-sister Tina Frappier her husband Gus. Carl’s family would like to thank Baystate Hospice RN Paula Picard for her caring comfort, RN Gretchen Matte of the VA who advocated for Carl to help him with anything he needed, CNA Rebecca Gouvin for helping take care of dad at home, and all of the Homewatch Care for all of their continuous support. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 24, 2020 from 4-7pm in Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N Main St, East Longmeadow.
