Biase William Porfilio

1931 – 2021

Springfield – Biase William Porfilio, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Baystate Medical Center. Born in Agone Compobasso, Italy, he was the son of Raffaele and Biondina Maria (Masciotra) Porfilio. He immigrated to the United States in 1938, settling in Springfield. He graduated from Springfield Trade High School and was proud to later serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married the love of his life Virginia DeMarco and started their own family. In 1957 William founded Eastern Electronics & Security, Inc. where he later worked along-side his two sons. His strong work ethic and dedication to the business was incredible. William was one of the founders of the Western MA Alarm Association. His faith was important and he was devoted to his family. His favorite pastime was watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with his growing family.

His beloved wife, Virginia D. (Demarco) Porfilio passed away in 2008. William is survived by his four children: Diane Frisino (Jay) of East Longmeadow, Susan Doe of Springfield, William (Diane) of East Longmeadow, and Richard (Nadine) of Feeding Hills; ten grandchildren: JT Frisino (Teresa), Kristy Hess (Dan), Andrea Elfman (Charlie), Heather Doe, Ronnie Doe (Justine), Andrew Doe, William Porfilio Jr, Michael Porfilio, Richard Porfilio Jr, and Alissa Porfilio; seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas, James, Kayla, Aedan, Julia, Ben and Nellie; his brothers-in-law Donald DeMarco (Grace) and Richard DeMarco (Barbara), and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, William was predeceased by his siblings: Pasquale, Enrico and Theresa Porfilio.

Family and friends are invited gather for visiting hours on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 3:00-6:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street in East Longmeadow. The funeral service will be on Monday, September 27th at 9:00am at the funeral home with a procession for burial and Military Honors to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. William’s family wishes to especially thank the wonderful comforting care provided to him by Springfield 3 Oncology at Baystate and Home Instead Agency.
