Barbara P. Ciarcia, 75, of Windsor Locks, CT formerly of Springfield passed away on July 11th, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to Paul Ciarcia. She was born in Springfield on March 6, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Paul P. and Catherine A. (Kelly) Pelkey. She graduated from Somers High School with honors in 1963. She started her career with the State of Connecticut working for the Department of Consumer Protection right after high school. She took a leave to raise her son Michael. She then went back to work for the state at the Department of Corrections until her retirement in 2003. Barbara loved playing all sorts of games with her family and friends. She volunteered at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Enfield and at Touchpoints in East Windsor. She is also survived by her son Michael, daughter-in-law Carrie and granddaughter Allyson as well as “The Kelly Cousins” and several other extended family members. In addition to her parents, her brother Peter Pelkey predeceased her. The visiting hours will be on Thursday morning, July 16th from 9:00 to 10:45 at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow (masks and social distancing required). Her funeral home service will be at 11am. Interment will be immediately following in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
