East Longmeadow – Anthony “Tony” Fazio, 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. A lifelong resident of East Longmeadow, Tony was the son of the late Charles and Carmella (Malone) Fazio. Growing up in East Longmeadow, Tony attended East Longmeadow schools and graduated from Springfield Trade High School. He worked for the Town of East Longmeadow for many years as a Supervisor for the Department of Public Works. After his retirement from the DPW, Tony opened his own business, B & T Trucking. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, caring for his lawn, and was a member of the East Longmeadow UNICO. Tony was grateful for the relationships he made and cherished his friends. He gives a special thank you to his nephew Michael Rau and his wife Donna, Shirley and Bill Rau, Charlie, Billy and Will Arment, Dr. Leo Hood, George Laro, his neighbor Lynn Vedovelli, and his UNICO group for their devoted friendship and help over the years.
He leaves his family to cherish his memory, his caring wife of 57 years, Barbara (Trela) Fazio, their daughter Debbie Richards and her companion Ben Perreault, daughter-in-law Dawn Fazio, his grandchildren Alex Richards and Riley Fazio, his sister Shirley Rau and her husband Bill, and niece and nephews. Besides his parents, Tony was predeceased by his son Brian Fazio in 2003.
To honor Tony, visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 4:00-6:00pm at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street in East Longmeadow with a service at 6:00pm. Please follow guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing.
