Ann C. Shay

It is with great sadness the family of Ann Shay announces her passing on January 14, 2023. She passed into eternal life at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by the comfort and love of her caring family.

She was born in Springfield on January 14, 1946, the beloved daughter of the late Albert C. and Eleanor (White) Meyer. She was raised and educated in West Springfield and graduated near the top of her class at West Springfield High School, class of 1964. She attended and graduated from Bay Path College as valedictorian, class of 1966. Ann married the love of her life, Clayton (Ted), in May of 1968 and together they began the journey of 55 wonderful years together. Soon after they married they moved to Longmeadow where she became a sincere communicant of St. Mary's Church. She spent her life working in customer service, first for various Springfield area banks, then for Signature Glass Co., and finally for both Browning Ferris Industries and Republic Service.

Ann loved to spend summer vacations in Maine, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Her arms were always open wide for a hug given to any of her three children or six grandchildren, and she loved to watch and take part in any of their many activities.

Ann leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, Clayton (Ted) Shay, in addition to her son Marc Shay and his wife Adili of Londonderry, NH, her daughters Mara Perry and her husband Doug of Longmeadow, MA and Martha Trail and her husband Matt of Newburyport, MA. She also leaves her six absolutely adored and loved grandchildren: Valerie and Courtney Shay, Regan and Sam Perry, and Will and Shay Trail. In addition to her parents Ann was predeceased by her brother Albert W. Meyer in 1969.

Ann's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center for their compassionate care.
