Fort Pierce Florida/Springfield- Ann E. (Gorgoglione) Panetta, 94, Ascended into the Journey of Everlasting Life, on February 4, 2018 . She was the devoted wife of Joseph P. Panetta.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 24, 1923, Ann was a daughter of the late Ruggiero and Pasqualina (DePalo) Gorgoglione. Ann was a life long resident of Springfield; and an active lifetime parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a member over 40 years and President of Our Lady of Grace Society; recently being honored for her service. She was also Past President of the Italian American War Veterans, in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Ann was predeceased by a sister, Angelina Grimaldi and a brother, Michael Gorgoglione. She is survived by her son and his wife, Angelo and Georgianna Melo, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two sisters, Antoinette Gareffi of Springfield, Connie Garcia of East Longmeadow; four grandchildren, Dean Melo, Dawn Melo, Tara Melo and Jason Melo; four great – grandchildren, Christian, Michael, Matthew, Luke; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The funeral service will be held at 9:00AM on Monday (February 12, 2018) from the Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 45 Locust Street, Springfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Springfield, Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield.
