Angelo Commisso

East Longmeadow – Angelo “Ang” Commisso, 78, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 2, 2018. Born April 11, 1939 in Springfield, he was a son to the late Domenick and Catherine (Ferraro) Commisso. Ang was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. He married the love of his life Patricia Moriarty on November 10, 1962 in Holy Name Church in Springfield. He was a lithographer for over 40 years at General Offset, Milton Bradley and Bassette Printers. Ang enjoyed the comraderie of being a Lifetime Member of the Springfield Elks Lodge 61 where he enjoyed a good poker game. He was an avid golfer and relished his visits to Florida where he was able to visit with family and friends and extend his golf season. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow. A talented man, he appreciated carpentry and creating special furniture for his family. His greatest joys and fondest memories were with his family and friends. He adored and was very proud of his grandchildren. His sense of humor will be greatly missed.

His beloved wife of nearly 47 years, Patricia A. (Moriarty) Commisso, predeceased him in 2009. He is survived by his son Michael and his wife Virginia of Brookline, NH; his daughter Sheila and Marcel Caron of Wilbraham, MA; his daughter Joanne and her husband Jeff Wilson of East Longmeadow, MA; four grandchildren Mary and James Commisso, and Jacob and Matthew Wilson; his brother Joseph Commisso and his wife Mary of West Springfield, MA, and his brother-in-law Francis Lewis of Conway, S.C., as well as, many loved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ang was also predeceased by his sister, Rosemarie Lewis and niece, Deborah Young.

Angelo’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 N. Main Street in East Longmeadow. His funeral will begin with a visiting hour at 10:00am followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angelo’s memory to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts (foodbankwma.org) or Labs4Rescue (labs4rescue.com).
