Obituary

Springfield – Alice Mae (Fraser) Bredenbeck, 88 passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 19th 2018, at her daughters home, her home of the last 10 years in East Longmeadow with her daughter Dawn by her side. Born January 22, 1930, Alice was a coal miner’s daughter to the late Donald A. Fraser and Carrie E. (MacGillvirary) Fraser of Thorburn, Nova Scotia Canada. Alice was schooled by way of the Pictou County School system of Nova Scotia. Alice worked as a registered Canadian for two years in Montague City, Massachusetts while living with her Aunt and Uncle, Margret & Pete Petrin. After a short return home to Nova Scotia she moved to Toronto, Ontario Canada where she was a teller at the Bank of Montreal. In September of 1955 she moved to the United States and took up residence in Cleveland, Ohio with her sister and brother in law Jessie and John Pless. She continued her career in banking in the audit department head office of the Cleveland Trust Company. She met her husband Lloyd in the early 1956 and was married October 29th, 1956. Moved to Chicopee, Massachusetts and began their adventure together making home in Springfield. On June 8, 1962 Alice became a citizen of the United States. Her career in banking continued from 1956 to retirement. Nearly forty years that began at the Chicopee Falls Savings Bank, and four name changes later ending as Fleet Savings Bank when Alice retired. She was an avid polka and square dancer and was know for quite an Scottish jig. Loved dancing at the old Red Barn, loved to bowl and dinners out at Ted Gatas Restaurant in Chicopee, Lido’s in Springfield and lunches at the Oxbow in Northampton. Music wise it was all about Lawerence Welk, Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones and Dean Martin. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind her beloved daughter; Dawn E. (Bredenbeck) Walczak and her husband K arl, granddaughters; Meagan, Jo r d a n and Rachel. Her second great-grandchild due in August; her son Kevin Lloyd and his wife Barb E. (Hodan) Bredenbeck, granddaughter Christie M. (Bredenbeck) Piquette and her husband Chris, her first great-grandchild Colin Lloyd; and her #1 grandson Brian Lloyd Bredenbeck. Alice, in addition to her parents was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd R. Bredenbeck who passed away October 1st, 2017. Sisters; Jessie (Fraser) Pless, Margret (Fraser) Haley and brother John Fraser. There will be no funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice, in her name. A special thanks to all her friends and those that knew our mother you gave her wonderful memories and a fulfilled life. Mom will be greatly missed by us all.
