Obituary

East Longmeadow – Agostino “Augie” Graziano, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on August 23, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Costantino and Maria (Cardamone) Graziano on May 10,1936 in San Michele, Provincia di Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy where he was raised and educated. Agostino immigrated to Canada and eventually to America, arriving in the United States on the Fourth of July in 1967, and through honest hard work and commitment to family, he embodied the highest ideals of the American dream. He was a band saw cutter for 34 years at American Saw & Mfg. Company in East Longmeadow until he retired in 2001. After his retirement he could be seen on his daily walk around town. He cultivated a wonderful vegetable garden and took pleasure in sharing its bounty with his neighbors. He also took pride in his homemade wine, tomato sauce, and sopressata. Agostino leaves his loving wife of 51 years, Giuseppina (Mancuso) Graziano; his son, Dino Graziano of East Longmeadow; his daughter, Maria Murphy and her husband Brian of East Longmeadow; his 2 devoted granddaughters, Kristyna and Brianna Murphy, who will forever miss their adoring Nonno; 2 sisters, Anna Maruca and Angela Crispino and her husband Claudio of Montreal, Canada; and many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in the U. S., Canada, Italy, and Australia. He also leaves several neighbors who became close friends. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, August 31st from 4-7PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Agostino’s funeral will be held on Saturday, September 1st from the funeral home at 10:15AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church, East Longmeadow at 11:30AM. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield. Donations in Agostino’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Parish Food Pantry, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
