Robert R. Emerson Jr.

EAST LONGMEADOW – Robert (Bob) Richardson Emerson, Jr., 88, passed away on February 14, 2017 in the Jewish Nursing Home, Longmeadow. Born in Springfield to Robert R. Emerson, Sr. and Nellie (Van Deene) Emerson, he grew up in Longmeadow. He was predeceased by his parents and both his brothers, Gerard V. Emerson and Peter H. Emerson. After graduating from Kenyon College, he served in the U.S. Army in Korea, earning the Bronze Service Star among other awards. After his Army service, he was associated with his late grandfather, Bartholomew Van Deene, in the National Library Binding Company in West Springfield, and later headed it. He leaves his wife, Jocelyn (Blade) Emerson of East Longmeadow, his two children James (Tammy) and Jocelyn L. Emerson, his two grandsons Quintin and Benjamin Emerson, his two nieces and a nephew, and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his wife and family who remember his steadfastness and love, especially when he stood by his wife when she nearly died from E. Coli. Rest in peace, dearest Bob.
