Robert Patrick Cormier

Robert Patrick Cormier, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 17, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Dunn, in 2008 and is survived by his son Gerry Cormier, his wife Sue and their children Kenny and Melanie of East Longmeadow, MA; his daughter Cathy Morin, her husband Jeff and their children Meg and Troy of South Windsor, CT; and his daughter Lori Cormier and her sons Dylan and Evan of Burlington, CT. “Bob” as he liked to be referred to was a wonderful father and grandfather with an incredible zest for life, a smile that would light up the room and huge personality to go with it! He was born in Springfield, MA on February 11, 1927. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 where he served as a Seaman First Class during WWII. He was very proud of his time in the Navy. He and Shirley were married on May 17, 1952 and celebrated 55 years of marriage. Bob owned several businesses over the years but his favorite was Y Liquors in Chicopee, MA which he co-owned with Shirley, his sister Doris and her husband Charles O’Connor. He loved to play golf, bowl and play pool. He enjoyed many years of playing pool with his son, Gerry and later in life with his friends at the Agawam Senior Center. He was a very happy and incredibly positive man right through his last days. He would always say that everything was “fine” and give you that wonderful smile! He would want to thank all of the wonderful staff and friends he made at Orchard Valley in Wilbraham where he spent his last eight months living and enjoying every day. Per his request, a private service was held on April 22 with a military burial at Agawam Cemetery.
