Richard Antonio LaFlamme Sr., 71, passed away at his home on September 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family, friends, and care givers. He was the devoted husband of 30 years to Maryanna (Santaniello) LaFlamme and a Feeding Hills resident since 1986.
Richard was born on June 21, 1946 in Springfield, a son of the late Emile and Alice (Taillefer) LaFlamme. He served his country, honorably, in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Richard was employed as a Lead Receiver for Lowe’s Home Improvement in Springfield. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, West Springfield. He loved watching hockey games and playing golf. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his twin brother, Robert LaFlamme; a sister, Rita Lacroix; and his sister in law, Roseanne LaFlamme. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Richard A. LaFlamme Jr. of Charlotte, NC and daughter in law, Barbara Connors-LaFlamme of Agawam; a brother, Alfred LaFlamme of Chicopee; 2 sisters, Lorraine LaFlamme-Bernier and her husband Roger of Ludlow, Pauline Paige and her husband Nelson “Skip”, of West Springfield; 3 grandchildren Keith LaFlamme, Gage LaFlamme, Brennan LaFlamme all of Agawam along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will begin at 9:30AM on Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017) from the Colonial Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine St., West Springfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours will take place from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2017) in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 1236 Main St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
