Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas, 82, of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, he emigrated with his wife and young family in 1964. Michael enjoyed a very successful career with Sears, Roebuck & Co. for 30 years, and retired to pursue extensive travels across the world. He was an accomplished artist, whose talent ranged from sketching caricatures and Irish architecture to painting murals of his grandchildrens’ favorite characters. He also loved to read, talk politics, watch soccer and do the daily crossword puzzle. Above all, he cherished his family and his little dog Lady. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Murray) Thomas in 1990, as well as one brother and five sisters. He is survived by his brother James Thomas of Agawam and three daughters, Anne Kirdulis of Springfield, Mary Thomas and fiancé Dr. Chanel Bouchereau of Springfield and Jennifer & James Daly of Longmeadow, as well as 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His family will receive friends on Monday, February 27 from 9-11 AM at the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. His liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Church, Longmeadow. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Suffield, CT.
