Mario Stellato

East Longmeadow – Mario Stellato, 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, died on December 31, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bracigliano, Italy to the late Pietro and Emilia (Leone) Stellato on June 6, 1939. Mario was the founder and owner of Stellato and Sons Landscaping in East Longmeadow for over 40 years. He was a family man who enjoyed gardening and making his own wine. Mario adored his grandson and he will be dearly missed by everyone. He leaves his loving wife of 49 years, Natalina (Santaniello) Stellato; his sons, Robert Stellato of East Longmeadow, and Mario Stellato Jr. and his wife Stacy of Springfield; his grandson, Logan Stellato; his brother, Gennaro Stellato and his wife Josephine of Feeding hills; his sisters, Carmela Stellato of Springfield, and Rosa Daniele and her husband Amedeo of East Longmeadow; and his sisters-in-law, Anna Stellato of Agawam, Josephine Stellato, Antonietta Peluso, and Rosa Santaniello all of Springfield. In addition to his parents, Mario was predeceased by his 3 brothers, Umberto, Amedeo and Claudio Stellato. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, January 4th from 4-7PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Mario’s funeral will be held on Friday, January 5th from the funeral home at 8:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield at 10AM. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mario’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-MA/NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
